Askmebet — System testing for all aspects of safety
This document describes a comprehensive, test-driven approach to validating Askmebet’s platform safety across security, privacy, reliability, fairness, and player protection domains. It is written as a single integrated test strategy suitable for engineering, QA, security, compliance, and operations teams.
Objectives
• Verify confidentiality, integrity, and availability of user and financial data.
• Confirm fairness and randomness of game outcomes and payout engines.
• Ensure player protection controls (self exclusion, deposit limits, KYC flows) work reliably.
• Validate resilience against fraud, abuse, and operational failures.
• Demonstrate regulatory and audit readiness through reproducible evidence.
Testing domains and methods
1. Security testing
• Static application security testing (SAST) for all codebases; enforce failure gates in CI.
• Dynamic application security testing (DAST) against deployed environments including OWASP Top 10 and authenticated flows.
• Dependency and supply chain scanning to detect vulnerable or malicious packages.
• Privilege and access tests: role based access control (RBAC) fuzzing, permission escalation attempts, and MFA bypass simulations.
• Secrets management verification: ensure no credentials in repos, confirm rotation, and HSM/secret store integration tests.
• Network segmentation and firewall rule validation using automated rule verification and port scan baselines.
• Penetration tests and red team exercises at least biannually (external providers + internal teams).
2. Privacy and data protection testing
• Data flow mapping tests to assert PII classification and correct encryption at rest/in transit.
• DSAR workflow tests (subject access, rectification, erasure) including response time SLAs and audit trails.
• Retention and deletion tests: generate data, trigger retention expiry, and verify irrecoverable deletion from primary and backups.
• Cross border transfer compliance checks: simulate data residency toggles and access controls per region.
3. Functional and integration testing
• End to end (E2E) scenarios for registration, deposits, bets, wins, withdrawals, promotions, and rollback cases.
• Idempotency and reconciliation tests for payment flows, ensuring duplicate events do not create financial discrepancies.
• Provider/integration contract tests for game vendors, payment gateways, KYC providers, and affiliate APIs.
• Edge case tests for fractional bets, rounding, currency conversion, and timeout retries.
4. Fairness and RNG testing
• Statistical tests (chi square, KL divergence, frequency analysis) on RNG outputs over large samples to confirm uniformity and absence of bias.
• Payout / RTP reconciliation across games and providers; verify aggregator math (jackpots, progressive pools).
• Audit hooks for provably fair or cryptographic verification where applicable.
5. Performance, load, and resilience testing
• Load tests to validate concurrency targets: peak concurrent players, sustained session throughput, and payment throughput.
• Chaos and failure injection: simulate network partitions, DB failovers, latency spikes, disk exhaustion, and service crash scenarios.
• Disaster recovery drills: RTO/RPO validation, cold/warm standby failovers, and backup restore verification.
6. Fraud, risk and abuse testing
• Synthetic fraud scenarios: account takeover simulation, bonus abuse patterns, collusion, matched betting, and automated bot behavior.
• Rule engine regression tests and ML model validation for precision/recall, drift detection, and adversarial robustness.
• Chargeback and dispute lifecycle tests from initial claim through reserve provisioning and accounting.
7. Operational and compliance testing
• Monitoring and alert tests: validate SIEM alerts, escalation paths, pager workflows, and runbook effectiveness.
• Incident response tabletop exercises and timed full scale simulations including customer notifications and regulator communication.
• Audit readiness checks: evidence packaging for auditors, immutable logs, cryptographic signing, and retention proofs.
Test infrastructure and automation
• CI/CD-integrated test suites with environment parity (staging mirrors production config).
• Synthetic data generation and disposable test wallets to prevent contamination of production.
• Immutable, versioned test artifacts and automated evidence collection for every run.
• Test metrics dashboard: pass rates, mean time to detect, coverage by domain, and regression trendlines.
Governance and continuous improvement
• Testing KPIs reviewed by security, QA, and compliance quarterly.
• Post incident learnings fed into test cases; mandatory regression tests added for any detected failures.
• External audits, certification cycles, and third party test reports scheduled and published to stakeholders where appropriate.
